Local artist’s work featured at Lake Region Health Care Center
Alexandria artist Millie Conard’s paintings will be featured at the Lake Region Health Care Center in Fergus Falls for the months of April, May and June.
Conard began her art career at age 17 when she attended The Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When she moved to Alexandria, she started painting in an adult evening class with Esther McMcrery.
Eventually, she took classes at M State, Fergus Falls and Moorhead State, where she studied drawing and design.
To stay in practice, she tries to paint every day in her studio, which is full of art supplies and decorated with her own artwork, as well as the artwork of other artists.
Conard’s favorite artist to pull inspiration from is Hans Hoffman, who emigrated from Germany to New York City before World War II, opened a school and taught pre-Renaissance art.
