Living Word Lutheran Church dedicates new facility
Living Word Lutheran Church, 1722 16th Avenue East, Alexandria, will dedicate its new church facility at a 9 a.m. worship service Sunday, July 28. The dedication culminates a two-year process of planning, fundraising and construction.
Doyle Polson, building committee chair, will ring the bell, calling the congregation to worship, followed with a ribbon cutting by Paul Lommen, council president. Pastor A.J. Kluver will lead a processional, with Pastor John Beem carrying the congregation's Bible, the youth carrying a new banner and the Living Word Choir leading the congregation in hymns.
After the service, the congregation and friends can enjoy refreshments and a time of fellowship.
This first phase is a multi-use facility with classrooms, office space, kitchen facilities and a large fellowship/worship space. The second phase of construction will include a sanctuary, lower level classrooms and an outdoor amphitheater.
Living Word Lutheran Church, a 270 member congregation, held its first worship service November 1, 2009. The congregation is affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ and the Augustana District of the LCMC.
