Letter - Thanks for giving us room
To the editor:
The letter from Al Olsen on bicycles and vehicles sharing the road (Echo Press, August 25, 2010) is absolutely right on target. Also, bicycles by law must ride with the traffic. A pedestrian walking on the left can easily see a dangerous situation developing and step out of the way, but a bicyclist cannot.
The danger exists behind the bicyclist and it is very difficult to detect which vehicle is about to hit him. Remember too that vehicles send out air currents that, depending on the wind and vehicle and how close he came to you, can make life a little more exciting than you wish it to be.
A big thank you to the drivers who do give us room.
