Letter - Take another look at the DFL

Email

To the editor:

Last year the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party had enough support to take some bold steps forward for Minnesota. A $1 billion budgetary surplus will allow the money the Republicans took from the schools to be paid back in full, as well as new investments in education (like all-day - everyday kindergarten), and expanded local government aid (LGA) that helps Greater Minnesota towns get by.

The DFL passed the first property tax cut in a decade (up to 9 percent). Minnesota now has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation (unlike neighboring Wisconsin under Republican-control that is losing jobs). Minnesota has the fifth-fastest growing economy and the eighth best state for business in the nation.

While the Republicans tend to give you various shades of extremism and poor management, the DFL is the new voice of reason, moderation and centrism in the area. We have made serious inroads to turning the area a kinder, gentler shade of blue, and would love to have your support.

Take another look at the DFL. You’ll like what you find.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to invite folks to our Douglas County DFL Convention. It will be at Alexandria Technical and Community College, Room 743 on Monday, February 24, with a 6 p.m. registration.
