Learn to bake bread, handle coupons and make repairs at Community Education classes

A baking class will be held Monday, May 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria. Participants will learn the lazy cook's method for making homemade artisan breads and how to make healthy breads using dough that mixes in minutes and can be stored up to two weeks.

Bake a loaf in class to share, plus bring home a batch of dough. Participants will also receive recipes for various breads.

The class will include demonstrations, hands-on baking and tasting. Bring a five-quart mixing bowl with a cover to take home the dough. The fee is $29.


Got coupons? A class will explain what to do with extra coupons on Tuesday, May 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria.

Lynne Dahlheimer will show attendees what to do with coupons, how to save money and how to start a stockpile. The fee is $9.


Three separate Fix-It Clinics for bicycles, electrical and clothing will be held Wednesday, May 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Discovery Middle School.

Attendees may bring items that need repair in the areas of bicycles, electrical and clothing items. Volunteers will advise and supervise the repair. but participants are responsible for the repairs.

Some tools will be available, but attendees may bring tools they think are appropriate.
