LB Homes wins Community Impact Award
LB Homes of Fergus Falls was recently honored with the 2014 Community Impact Award from Aging Services of Minnesota for its Harmon Killebrew Hospice Day at Target Field event last year.
The Community Impact Award recognizes an Aging Services of Minnesota member organization that goes beyond its health service or housing role to support and/or improve the greater community and demonstrate social responsibility and the organization’s role as a responsible corporate citizen.
LB Homes and Lakeland Hospice Foundation teamed up with the Minnesota Twins, KLN Family Brands and Nita Killebrew, Harmon Killebrew’s widow, to create Harmon Killebrew Hospice Day at Target Field.
Killebrew was a volunteer and strong advocate for hospice care throughout the later years of his life, serving as a national spokesperson for hospice for nine years before passing away under the care of hospice in 2011.
Plans are currently under way for the second annual Harmon Killebrew Hospice Day on Saturday, August 16.
LB Homes accepted the award at the Aging Services of Minnesota Institute, the state’s largest and most comprehensive aging services conference.
Nearly 4,000 professionals in all aspects of older adult services attend the annual three-day event to learn about new and innovative programs, share best practices and network with their peers.
