Laura Urban is president-elect for ATCC
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Board of Trustees has appointed Laura Urban as president-elect for Alexandria Technical and Community College.
Chancellor Steven J. Rosenstone announced his recommendation of Urban at 1 p.m. on March 19 to the MnSCU Board of Trustees. His recommendation was approved and Urban was officially appointed.
The presentation to the Alexandria community of Urban as the president-elect will be held on March 24 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 209/211 at ATCC.
Urban has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Gateway Community and Technical College since 2010. Previously, she served at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Community College (WI) as chief academic officer and academic dean from 2006 to 2010, and at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College from 1997 to 2006. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northland College, a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Colorado State University, and a doctorate in education from Capella University.
Urban is expected to start her position as the new president in July 2014, when long-time ATCC President Kevin Kopischke retires.
Fellow semifinalist, Dorothy Duran, was appointed the president-elect of Minnesota State College — Southeast Technical during the same meeting.
