Lamont Cranston Band to give concert October 25
The Lamont Cranston Band, a Minneapolis-based blues band, will perform on Friday, October 25 at the Phoenix Event Center in Alexandria. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the band playing at 8 p.m.
Food and a full bar will be available through Raaper’s. It will include specials, surprises and dancing.
Tickets are $18 and are available at Trumm Drug, Raaper’s and Sunnies General Store, all in Alexandria.
The Lamont Cranston Band has been at it since 1969 and has had 14 album releases.
Lead singer Pat “Lamont” Hayes has solo ventures to his credit, touring with Bonnie Raitt as a member of her band and blowing harmonica duets with Charlie Musselwhite in Minneapolis
Keb Mo, Jonny Lang, Jeff Healey, Sugar Blue, Dan Aykroyd and Bonnie Raitt are just a few of the many who have joined the Cranstons on stage.
In 1981, the band opened for The Rolling Stones on a leg of their North American tour. The band was also the first to play the grand opening of the Chicago House of Blues.
Current members are Hayes, harp, guitar, vocals; Rod Smith, guitar; Brad Pelkey, bass; and Jeff Rogers, drums.
Also, on most shows, original member Bruce McCabe returns on piano; Tim Wick (Big Walter Smith) on organ; and Jim Greenwell (alumni) on saxophone.
