Lakes Area Loves Haiti events feature Pastor Firmin Louis
Haitian Pastor Firmin Louis will come to Alexandria Saturday and Sunday, August 24-25 for a series of Lakes Area Loves Haiti events.
He will share a story of faith and hope for the people of Haiti, and how people from the Alexandria area have served alongside him to transform the next generation in Haiti.
Louis will attend the Kids Against Hunger Lakes Area-wide food packing event on August 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cabinets by Carter.
Louis will also preach on August 25 at 10 a.m. at Catalyst Covenant Church, Woodland Elementary School.
Later, he will attend a dessert fundraising event at 7 p.m. at Alexandria Covenant Church. Attendees can hear Louis' story and learn how they can be part of transforming Haiti through the work of Bread to the Nations.
Louis is the pastor of Blessings Church and founder of the New Destiny Children's Home in Carrefour, Haiti. He and his wife took 14 children into their family after the earthquake in 2010, in addition to their six children.
Lakes Area Loves Haiti is a collaborative effort between Bread to the Nations and Kids Against Hunger-Alexandria to introduce Louis and to support God's ministry through his church in Haiti.
Kids Against Hunger is seeking small groups to package food. Eighty percent of food packaged at this event will go directly to support Louis' church community.
The suggested donation to cover food and shipping costs is $10 per person. To schedule a time for a group to pack, call Tiffany at (320) 759-3003.
