Lakers knock off Hillcrest boys

The Minnewaska boys held off a good Hillcrest Lutheran Academy team in a 65-63 game on Thursday night.

The Lakers got three players in double figures with Matt McIver leading the way with 19 points, five steals, two rebounds and two assists. Riley Thompson and Jayden Beecher added 13 points each.

Minnewaska is the fifth seed in the 6AA South tournament. The Lakers are scheduled to open the playoffs tomorrow night, Thursday, at Paynesville in a 7 p.m. tip.
