Lakers fall to New London-Spicer

The Minnewaska girls’ basketball team advanced past Morris in the first round of the Section 6AA girls’ basketball tournament before falling to top-seeded New London- Spicer on Saturday.

The Lakers defeated Morris on the road last Thursday in a 55-36 victory. The win advanced Minnewaska to the Section 6AA south quarterfinals where it lost to New-London Spicer 46-32 Saturday at St. John’s University.

Carley Stewart led the Lakers’ scoring Saturday with 14 points, and Ariel Ostrander paced the offense against Morris with 11.

New London-Spicer advanced to the south division semifinals where it played Eden Valley-Watkins at St. John’s University on Tuesday evening.
