Lake Region Pioneer Show to be held September 5-7
The Lake Region Pioneer Threshing Association (LRPTA) will celebrate its 61st anniversary on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 5-7.
The Pioneer Show is held annually at the threshing grounds near Dalton, and features old time threshing, lumber making, other pioneer skill demonstrations and food.
John Deere tractors and machinery will be this year’s special feature.
A 1969 John Deere 1020 gas tractor will be given away as first prize in the annual raffle.
The daily Parade of Giants will be held Friday and Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Other events planned for the weekend include the following:
An all-female vocalist group known as the Sirens of the 60’s will perform on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
The group will perform songs made famous by popular singers such as Downtown by Petula Clark, Stand by Your Man by Tammy Wynette, Monday, Monday by Mama Cass, and Walk on By by Dionne Warwick.
Tractors will test their strength in a tractor pull on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Saturday night will feature a performance by the Shadows Band at 7 p.m. The group is returning again this year after a sellout performance last year.
They will take you back to the music of Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Bobby Vee and the Big Bopper.
On Sunday, the kids will test their strength in a pedal pull at 10 a.m.
Advance tickets to see both nationally recognized bands can be purchased at Coopers Technology in Fergus Falls or at the door on the evening of the show.
No admission will be charged to enter the threshing grounds after 5 p.m. for the evening performances.
