Lake Carlos State Park offers guided bike rides
Lake Carlos State Park is offering scenic and educational bicycle rides this summer.
Join a park naturalist or naturalist volunteer on the Central Lakes State Trail the first Saturday of the month - June through September - for a guided ride.
Each month, the rides will have different themes such as wild edibles and nature photography.
The first ride will take place this Saturday, June 2. Participants will ride toward Nelson and watch for migrating and nesting birds living along the trail with Master Naturalist Lynn Glesne and a staff member from The Bike and Fitness Company.
Rides will leave from Big Ole in Alexandria and are approximately five-miles round trip.
Bike helmets are strongly encouraged. Children younger than age 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Rides start at 10 a.m. and end at the same location at noon.
Call Lake Carlos State Park to register at (320) 852-7200.
Upcoming dates and themes:
July 7 - "Photography Along the Trail."
August 4 - "Trees of the Trail and Other Plant Life."
September 1 - "Edible Bike Ride."
