Kohler is best-qualified candidate to be judge
To the editor:
Douglas County residents will vote on a District Court judge position in the August 12 primary. It is not often that there is a challenger to a sitting judge. However, the incumbent judge, Steven Cahill, was recently disciplined by the Judicial Board for several instances of misconduct. Because of this, three lawyers are running against him to be our judge.
I would respectfully ask that you consider voting for Ken Kohler. As a person who has devoted 30-plus years to law enforcement and education, and having known Ken for 29 years, I can say without a doubt that Ken Kohler is the right person to serve as a judge for Minnesota.
Ken is a veteran who has extensive experience as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer. Ken was a long-time prosecutor and defense attorney. He has proven himself to me and others to be trustworthy and fair.
Being a judge requires timeliness, respect for litigants, knowledge of the rules and law, and an understanding that being a judge is a public service.
Ken Kohler has the heart for service, and is the best-qualified candidate for this very important position. Please take this into consideration as you vote on August 12.
