Knights volleyball takes road win over Hancock
The West Central Area volleyball team moved to 2-0 on the season with a three-set road win over Hancock.
Head coach Beth Hill said the Knights came out a little sluggish in the first set, but later dug in and won 26-24.
"Set one started slowly and we weren't talking as much as we should have," Hill said. "Hancock kept battling and the score went back and forth."
From there the second and third sets went smoother for the Knights. They won the second set 25-21 and finished the match with a third set 25-16 victory.
"I am really happy with how the girls are playing," Hill said. "We have a lot of talent. Our main emphasis is talking and moving feet, and being able to do that on a consistent basis."
Holly Van Kempen led the Knights' offense with 10 kills and only one error. She also had 10 digs, three blocks and two aces.
Tiana Christenson led the defense for the Knights with 19 digs. Christina Kruize also contributed 17 assists.
The Knights will open conference play at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday at Long Prairie.
