Klimek delays plea in stabbing case
Kody Lee Klimek, 25, of Alexandria, attended his initial court appearance in Douglas County Court on Monday, June 10. Klimek is facing three counts of murder in the stabbing death on June 1 of Phillip Joel Altstadt, 28, also of Alexandria.
The Douglas County Attorney's office reported that Klimek deferred entry of a plea and requested an omnibus hearing within 28 days. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 5.
Klimek's bail remains at $1 million without conditions or a $200,000 bail with conditions or a $950,000 bond with conditions. He is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail.
Klimek is represented by public defender Virginia Boever. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years imprisonment on charges of felony second degree intentional murder, 40 years imprisonment on felony second degree unintentional murder and 25 years imprisonment on felony murder in the third degree.
