Using their creative drawing skills, students in Alexandria School District 206 made posters showing what kindness means to them. The winning artists gathered for photos to cap off Random Acts of Kindness Week, which was celebrated February 23 through March 1. Shown are the kindergartners and 1st graders (top); the 2nd and 3rd graders (middle); and the 4th, 5th and 6th graders (lower). The Alexandria Kiwanis Club sponsors the event and other community groups join the effort. The poster contest is an effort to get children thinking about what constitutes an act of kindness, and how such acts make them feel. Each year, more than 1,000 drawings are entered into the contest.
