Kids and kindness
Children who were winners in the Random Acts of Kindness drawing contest gathered for a photo at the Douglas County Library last Saturday. The children's drawings were displayed at area businesses and most of them can still be seen at the library and around town. The Alexandria Kiwanis Club sponsored the 14th annual Random Acts of Kindness Week, February 21-27, in an effort to bring awareness to the power of kindness. The contest is a way to get kids thinking about what constitutes an act of kindness and how such acts make them feel, according to Kiwanis members. Each year, more than 1,000 drawings are entered into the contest.
