Kids Against Hunger teams up with the YMCA
The Alexandria area YMCA is hosting a family fun event on Saturday, April 21 to raise money for Kids Against Hunger - Alexandria. Join the Alexandria community in a 5K fun run or choose to package Kids Against Hunger meals for starving children.
The run and the packaging event will begin at 9 a.m. at the YMCA, 110 Karl Drive in Alexandria. All proceeds from the race will be used to purchase food ingredients for the meals.
In addition, a vendor fair will be held in the lobby of the YMCA that will feature summer activities for children, families or visitors. This past year, the Kids Against Hunger satellite network produced a total of 40 million meals that were shipped to 46 countries.
The mission of Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food-aid organization, is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world. Kids Against Hunger was incorporated in 1999 and is a nonprofit organization recognized by the IRS for tax-deductible donations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
