'Kids Against Hunger' event planned Wednesday

Another "Kids Against Hunger" food packaging event will take place in Alexandria this Wednesday.

A similar event took place last November 11. It was initiated by Dan Lindquist, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. That event was a success. More 400 volunteers packaged more than 132,000 meals, which were sent to starving people throughout the world.

As a memorial to Lindquist, a second event will take place Wednesday, July 8 at the "In the Pines" building west of Alexandria off Highway 27. Three sessions will be held - 9 to 11 a.m., 1 to 3 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m.

Many jobs in the bagging process are easy and last year individuals from age 6 to age 90 were involved, according to organizers. The process allows families to work together as a unit so the accomplishment is shared.

Donations are also being accepted. Due to the efficiency of the process, a $100 donation will purchase more than 600 meals.

Call Keith Redfield at (320) 763-4126 to reserve a place for yourself and others in one of the three sessions. Donations can be sent to Keith at 1401 Geneva Drive, Alexandria, MN 56308 or brought to the event.

Checks should be made out to "Kids Against Hunger-Stewart," which is a 501(c)(3) organization.
