KID FUN to host open house at state park June 7
Come celebrate Minnesota State Park's Open House Day Sunday, June 7 at Lake Carlos State Park.
Volunteers from Kreative Ideas Designed For Understanding Nature (KID FUN) have planned a day full of fun for the entire family.
The second annual family fun day will begin with a non-denominational church service at 10 a.m. followed by a free-will offering picnic lunch.
During the afternoon, families can enjoy face painting, pontoon rides, youth fishing, canoe lessons, interpretive hikes, a variety of naturalist events and much more.
The KID FUN volunteers are working together to create a nature-inspired outdoor play area at Lake Carlos State Park. The goal is to design and create a playground that will blend fun physical activity into the natural setting of the park.
The area will also encourage and engage youth in a greater understanding of the environment.
Lake Carlos State Park is located 10 miles north of Alexandria on State Highway 29, then 2 miles west on Highway 38. For park information, contact the park office at (320) 852-7200.
