Kevin Johnson, 52
Kevin Johnson, 52, passed away suddenly on February 18, 2009 at Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego, California.
Kevin was born December 16, 1957 in Crookston to Roger and Clarette Johnson. He attended grade school in Detroit Lakes and graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1975. He attended Gustavus Adolphus and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in psychology in 1979. Kevin spent time working at Fairview South Hospital in Minneapolis before receiving his master's degree in human resources at the University of Minnesota.
He worked at Trend Inc. in the Twin Cities area before moving to San Diego in 1986 where he worked in the human resources department at Frazee Paints. In the early 1990s, he began working as a sales associate at Bowers Jewelry Store in La Jolla, California, where he worked until his death.
Kevin was a kind, gentle man and touched many lives.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Roger and Clarette Johnson of Alexandria; sisters, Debbie Dressen of Belle Plaine, Jolene (Mike) Devitt of Long Prairie; brother, Gary (Renee) Johnson of Nisswa; nephews, Cole Devitt, Ryan and Paul Dressen, Calvin and Riley Johnson; niece, Kim (Chris) Dardis; grand niece and nephews, Lucy, Charlie and Drew Dardis; and his partner of 25 years, Chris Janke. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and a ton of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emil and LaVanche Petersen, Elmer and Genevieve Johnson; and brother-in-law, Dan Dressen.
A memorial service will be held for Kevin on Monday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria.
