Kensington to celebrate History with Eleanor Day
On Saturday, February 23 at noon, the Kensington Area Heritage Society (KAHS) will host its fifth annual History with Eleanor Day in Kensington's Community Center.
This year's event commemorates the return of Kensington's depot to the village in June 2012. The luncheon, catered by the Kensington Café, will feature "hobo stew."
The afternoon program, starting about 1 p.m., will highlight the depot move and provide an update on current and future plans, including plans for an open house.
The KAHS initiated a History with Eleanor Day luncheon in February of 2009 to recognize Eleanor Gunderson's dedication to local history.
Gunderson was known as the town historian, the person whom people relied on as a reliable source to answer questions about family histories and the various former businesses of the community.
