Kathryn Mootz, 73

Kathryn "Kay" Mootz was born February 29, 1940 in Fairmont, and died peacefully, surrounded by family November 4, 2013, under the care of Douglas County Hospice, in Alexandria. She was the loving wife of 49 years, of Jim Mootz. Together they shared their lives in Alexandria.

Her greatest joy were the many car rides they took throughout Minnesota, especially to the farm to see their grandchildren. She was a devoted mother to Thomas (Don Brewer) Mootz of Eagan and Dawn (Chris) Jakubiec of Parkers Prairie and completely adored by her two grandchildren, Macy and Austin, who were the light of her life. She will be sadly missed by her brother, Dean (Vivian) Koenecke of Alexandria and sisters, Ruth Sands of Redwood Falls, Jo (Jim) Bjerknes of Alexandria, Helen (Roger) Lueck of Fairmont and Jean Anderson of Spirit Lake, Iowa; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Her honorary urn bearers are the Daughters of Isabella.

Memorials may be directed to Douglas County Hospice or St. Mary's Church.
