Just for Kix dancers perform at Outback Bowl
Nine dancers from the Alexandria Just for Kix program performed in the pregame show and the halftime show during the Outback Bowl game in Tampa, Florida on New Year’s Day.
A total of 21 people, including the dancers, their coach, mothers and grandmothers, made up the traveling party.
The trip totaled seven days and included the bowl game performances and other fun events with visits to Disney World, Clearwater Beach, Busch Gardens and a New Year’s Eve dinner cruise.
The Alexandria dancers were among more than 350 dancers who performed, along with eight high school bands from across the country, before a crowd of 60,000 at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The halftime show theme was Grease and finished with a patriotic tribute.
“It was amazing to watch this group of young ladies come together and work so hard, and to be a part of something this big,” said Just for Kix coach Crystal Hoepner. “It rained during both of their performances and half of the football game, but the dancers enjoyed every moment of their experience.”
Dancers traveling from Alexandria were Katie Bormann, Kylie Larson, Jacy Roste, Sierra Cory, Tausha Lange, Erika Etter, Macy Stender, Maddie Holtz and Sabrina Moske.
Just For Kix has provided entertainment for bowl games for 26 years. This was the first time dancers from the Alexandria area have participated in many years.
