Juried art show set for June 14
Twenty years ago, women played an integral part in preserving an historical landmark and the history that went along with the grand old Ann Bickle Heritage House in Glenwood.
That history showcases the spirit of women and the differences they made in this community and state.
In recognition of that spirit, The Bremness Gallery, located on the Heritage House grounds, will showcase artworks based on the theme "Spirit of Woman, Through The Artist's Eye."
Fifty-one pieces of original art, created by 39 different artists, will influence the perception of "Spirit of Woman."
Each artwork is unique, and each has its own story.
Visitors will see the old crone, the child who steps in as a mother, the bonding between generations from maternity to old age, women improving the community, as well as that certain relative who always has something up her sleeve.
Opening reception and awards ceremony is slated for Saturday, June 14, from 5 to 7 p.m.
"Spirit of Woman" runs from June 19 through July 26, but will be closed the week of July 4.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. It is also open by appointment by calling (320) 634-3163 or (320) 634-4687.
The Bremness Gallery is located at 226 East Minnesota Avenue in Glenwood on the grounds of the Ann Bickle Heritage House.
