Junior 10-12: Adams repeats as junior champ
It wasn't quite as easy on Saturday, but Medina's Nathaniel Adams still cruised to a 3-1 victory over Gabe McKeown for his second Junior 10-12 Division Championship.
Adams was not as dominant in the match as he was the rest of the week, winning every single hole before facing McKeown. But he never trailed in the eight-hole match for his second consecutive Junior 10-12 title.
"It was difficult the last day, I'll say that," Adams said during the awards ceremony.
Adams led 1-up after six holes, taking the lead with a par on No. 11. McKeown held tough against the defending champion, only shooting three bogeys through the first six holes.
But Adams made his move through the final two holes of the match. A par on No. 16 gave him a 2-up lead, and the match concluded on No. 17 with another par for Adams.
The title defense looked easy for Adams all week. He won his first two matches 5-4 before his 3-1 victory Saturday.
The second consecutive title in the Junior 10-12 Division will be the last for 12-year-old Adams. Next year he will have to begin play in the Junior 13-15 Division.
