John Peterson, 91

John Alfred Peterson, 91, Alexandria, died September 7, 2013.

John was born in Alexandria on August 21, 1922, the son of Hjalmer and Esther Peterson. He attended the Alexandria school system and in 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After a medical release, he came back to develop the family farm in southeast Alexandria and was there until 1995 when he moved into town.

In June of 1963, he married his best friend DeLilia "Dee" Klinghagen in Lennox, South Dakota and they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Dee; and two children, daughter Lynnea Rockwell (husband, Eric) of Denver and son Jay (wife, Kathy) of Chanhassen; and two grandsons, Luke and Adam Garrett of Denver.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and infant daughter, Judith Ann.

He was a lifelong member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council several times and on the property committee. He also served on the creamery board and elevator board, and was a member of Golden K for many years. He was a kind-hearted man who enjoyed wood-working, his Swedish heritage, traveling, fishing and being outside enjoying Gods creations.

The funeral will be at Calvary Lutheran Church on Friday, September 13 at 11 a.m.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also Friday morning at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
