Job seekers met face-to-face with nearly two dozen manufacturing employers at the region’s first-ever manufacturing only career expo.

It took place at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria on April 1.

With dozens of positions to fill, the companies at the expo were looking for all qualifications, from entry level to experienced welders, machinists, purchasing agents, engineers and more.

Leaders in the manufacturing field noted that the industry is the backbone of the state’s economy.

Augers, packaging machines, fish houses, valve controls and recycling trailers are just some of the products and components made in west central Minnesota.

The average salary for manufacturing jobs in Minnesota is $10,000 more than the average of other sectors in Minnesota.
