She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Duane; children, Karen Mortensen (Mark Wilkes); David (Elizabeth Coover); Mary Hammargren (Bill Olson); John (Heather); Kathryn Lovik (Tom); grandchildren, Michelle Harren (Ben); Heather Mortensen (Tim Anderson); Rebecca, Kristin, Tom and Jack Hammargren; Andrew and Charlie Olson; Laura Hammargren (fiancé, Cristof Traudes) and Ben Hammargren; Abby Cassidy, Hank, Ava and Louis Lovik; three great-grandchildren, Anna and Nick Harren and Payton Anderson; sister, Jane Martin; many dear friends, nieces and nephews.

Jo and Duane raised their family in Coon Rapids where Jo worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital and Duane co-owned Hanson Drug. They enjoyed many years in retirement in Alexandria. In her retirement, Jo became nationally known for her primitive-style rug hooking and was a founder of the Up to the Lake Rug Hooking Camp. She found great joy sharing her love of this art with many others in Minnesota and beyond. Her greatest love was reserved for her husband and extended, loving family that she leaves as her legacy.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 14 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Mark Astrup officiating. Music was provided by Sandy Buckner, organist and vocalists, Kim Byrne and Kristen Hammargren.

Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria; www.andersonfuneral.net.
