JHS speech team brings home medals
The speech team from Jefferson High School in Alexandria participated in its first meet of the season in Fergus Falls.
The team took home five first-place medals, including Caroline Roers for original oratory and great speeches; Katelyn Steffel for poetry; Mackenzie Meier for extemporaneous reading in prose; and Mariah Lichty for creative expression.
The following second place medals were awarded: Todd Johnson for extemporaneous speaking; Jenna Seward for informative speaking; and Katie Lovrien for discussion.
Third place medals were earned by Jesse Greybear for extemporaneous speaking and Desi Silva for drama. Ninth grader Kayla Parent also earned a blue ribbon for the extemporaneous reading in poetry category.
