JHS Homecoming events set
Jefferson High School (JHS) in Alexandria has a full week of activities planned to celebrate this year's homecoming. Following is a schedule of events.
Sunday, September 26
Powder puff football game at Citizens Field at 1 p.m.
Powder puff volleyball game at JHS gym at 4 p.m.
Monday, September 27
Homecoming royalty coronation at the JHS gym at 9:30 a.m.
Friday, October 1
Education Foundation 4th annual Hall of Fame luncheon at Broadway Ballroom from noon to 1:30 p.m. honor 2010 inductees Bev Lohrman Grossman, John Hammergren and Dr. Gerald Timm. Tickets are $25. Call Susan Scarborough at (320) 762-3310, extension 4271 for information.
Pep fest at JHS at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 2 - game day
Homecoming community parade at noon. One float per activity, organization or business. Parade participation forms are due before noon on Monday, September 27 to Sheree Oberg at JHS.
Community pep rally immediately following the parade on the front lawn at JHS. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place student floats.
Tailgate party at 12:30 p.m. at Citizens Field. Brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, turkey burgers, chips, pop and cookies will be served for $6 per person. Ice cream cones are $2. Features speakers will be Coach Mike Empting and other fall sports coaches.
Cardinal football homecoming game at 3 p.m. at Citizens Field. There will be a halftime presentation of royalty and recognition of alumni football players.
Homecoming dance for 10th to 12th graders at JHS gym from 9 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $5 if prepaid by October 1 or $10 at the door.
