'It's My Heart' awareness walk set for September 11
"It's My Heart" of Southern Minnesota will host an awareness walk this Saturday, September 11.
The non-profit organization supports families of children with congenital heart disease (CHD), which is the most common birth defect in the United States.
The first-ever CHD awareness walk will be held in memory of Hazel Marie Heidelberger, who lost her battle with congenital heart disease in January of this year. She is the daughter of Ryan and Angela Heidelberger of Alexandria.
The two-mile walk will raise funds for CHD education and support, and will include fun, family-friendly activities.
Registration will take place between 8 and 9 a.m. at Alexandria's City Park. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. The thank you, a time for honors and family activities will take place between 10 a.m. and noon.
