Intersection Trio to take the stage
Intersection, a New York trio, will take the stage on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Jefferson High School in Alexandria. This is part of the Central Lakes Concert Association's current series.
Consisting of violinist Laura Frautschi, cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper and pianist John Novacek, Intersection has numerous best-selling recordings and has topped the classical and crossover charts.
In addition, Intersection has released more than six DVDs and has appeared on magazine covers, TV and TV commercials.
A great component of Intersection's concert activity has been its guest appearances with orchestras such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, the Osaka Symphony, the Yomiuri Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic.
The quintessential Intersection event is the trio concert with a varied program of repertoire from all parts of the music world.
A typical evening with intersection may center on a Ravel, Dvorak or Brahms trio but will veer into areas of American music such as excerpts of film music and popular theater and song. Some favorites may include West Side Story medley, Carmen suite and Rhapsody in Blue.
Frautschi, Cooper and Novacek have individually achieved successes as soloists and chamber musicians in the world of classical music, but each has ventured beyond circumscribed artistic borders, exploring new music, world music, jazz and pop.
The doors open 45 minutes before the show. Season memberships may be purchased at the event or in advance by calling Jan Johnson at (320) 762-1350 or Bernita Darveaux at (320) 763-6248 in Alexandria or Bev Peterson at (218) 685-4667 in Elbow Lake.
