Ingebrigtsen supports bill on environmental permits
Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, released a statement Wednesday after meeting with top officials to discuss an environmental review and permitting efficiency bill.
Ingebrigtsen met with Governor Mark Dayton, Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Tom Landwehr, and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commissioner Paul Aasen to talk about SF 1567.
The Senate Jobs and Economic Growth Committee approved SF 1567 last week.
"Today, the Legislature and Governor Dayton took another big step in streamlining permitting and creating a better business climate for jobs in our state," Ingebrigtsen said. "After meeting with the governor, I am encouraged about further advancing this legislation, which streamlines the permitting process, removes duplicate services, and reforms government so it moves at the speed of commerce."
Ingebrigtsen added that last year, the Legislature passed House File 1 in a bipartisan fashion, which he described as a first step in modernizing permitting in the state.
"We have already heard positive comments from the business community around the state," Ingebrigtsen said. "Businesses are investing in Minnesota and creating jobs for Minnesotans. We must continue to strive for better outcomes with our government services, and I am thankful that Governor Dayton is committed to work with the Republican Legislature in getting Minnesotans back to work."
