Hunt down your photos contest winners named

The winners of the 12th annual Echo Press Hunt Down Your Photos contest have been chosen. Winning photos were selected based on sharpness, lighting, setting and overall impact.

Other select photos from this year’s contest entries may be published in the Lakes Area Outdoors special edition printed in the Echo Press in the fall of 2014.

First in this year’s contest is a photo taken by Steve Oehlenschlager of Elk River of his dog, Gretchen, retreving a pintail in Fortuna, North Dakota in October 2013. The photo was submitted for the contest by Steve’s mother, Dionne Oehlenschlager of Alexandria. The entry received a $100 gift certificate to the General Store in Osakis.

Second place goes to Brian Nelson of Alexandria for a photo of his 11-year-old son, Nick, and the family’s lab, Cody, duck hunting near Fergus Falls during sunrise in October 2013. Nelson received a prize package valued at $50 that includes a gun case, fillet knife and gift certificate, all from Knotty Pine in Brandon.

Third place was awarded to Dennis Hillmer of Carlos for this photo he took of himself after shooting this turkey in Belle River on May 26, 2013. The entry was awarded a $25 gift certificate to Elden’s Fresh Foods in Alexandria.
