'How Fargo of You' author to sign book in Alexandria Saturday
The author of "How Fargo of You," Marc DeCelle, will be at Cherry Street Books in Alexandria for a book signing on Saturday, December 8 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
After having lived all of his life in Florida, California and Arizona, a few years ago DeCelle moved to Fargo with his wife and two young children. What they experienced was a huge surprise and welcome change for them all, an entirely different culture They found a community of people who trusted each other, offered assistance and advice when needed (such as how to cope with winter driving and make it through their first blizzard), and people who genuinely cared about each other and their community.
After repeated examples in every day life that amazed him and his family, DeCelle wanted to come up with a way to express his thanks and he eventually crafted the phrase, "How Fargo of you," which became the title of his book.
If the family had lived just over the border, he could have called it "Minnesota Nice." A positive and uplifting book, it tells of the family's transition to life in Fargo and the constant examples of kindessses shown them by neighbors and even strangers.
With more than 20,000 copies sold, How Fargo of You is now the best selling book about North Dakota in the 21st Century. DeCelle is pleased to be coming to Alexandria for his first book signing beyond the borders of North Dakota. He said, "There is a story in the book from the lakes country of Minnesota just north of Alexandra, and everything I have heard and know about Alexandria confirms that the same Northern Prairie culture I celebrate in the book pervades your region as well."
The event is free and open to all. Contact Cherry Street Books at (320) 763-9400 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
