House fire causes extensive damage in Alexandria


Alexandria firefighters battled flames and smoke for nearly three hours in a house fire Monday.

Neighbors of the home at 828 Westwood Drive in Alexandria called 911 just after 5 p.m. and reported flames and smoke in the house.

The home is owned by Brett Mlaskoch; no one was home when firefighters arrived. Authorities later contacted the homeowner and a renter.

The fire reportedly caused extensive damage.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are looking into the cause of the fire.
