Honors:

William Sieling of Alexandria was named to the fall 2012 dean's list at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, for earning a grade point average of 3.6 or above and being enrolled in at least 14 graded units. Sieling is enrolled in the university's College of Arts and Science.

The following students were named to the fall 2012 dean's list at Bemidji State University.

Alexandria: Charity Berglund, Tess Boucher, Abraham Hartsell, Nicole Wesen, Abby Williams.

Brandon: Emily Bedore.

Garfield: Angela Lysfjord.

Andrea Smock, daughter of Lonita and Wayne Whaley of Pine City and the late Earl Smock of Alexandria, was named to the fall 2012 dean's list at Hamline University in St. Paul for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. She is a 2012 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria.

Graduates:

Army National Guard Private Courtney Gavin graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. During her nine weeks of training, she studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and more. Gavin is the daughter of Gail Christiance of Nelson and Bruce Gavin of Osakis. She is a 2012 graduate of Osakis High School.

Marine Corps Private Joseph Didier, son of Wendy Kuhnau of Farwell, graduated from Marine Corps basic combat engineer course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During the five-week course, Didier received instruction in the fundamentals of engineering support for combat units. He is a 2012 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria.

Accomplishments:

Canavati studies in London

Caitlin Canavati, daughter of Chris and Lori Canavati of Alexandria, is studying in London during spring semester 2013. Canavati is a junior peace studies and management double major at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph. While in London, she will study British history, literature, theater, music and art through lectures, readings, discussions and writing assignments.

Rodriguez elected to DECA officer board

Natalie Rodriguez of Alexandria was elected to the Collegiate Distributive Education Clubs of America's (DECA) Minnesota State Officer team as vice president, member at large by her peers. In her position, Rodriguez will promote growth and development of Collegiate DECA in the state of Minnesota. She is studying marketing and sales management at Alexandria Technical and Community College.
