Paul Yager of Alexandria was named to the spring 2012 Swenson College of Science and Engineering of the University of Minnesota, Duluth dean's list for academically placing in the top 15 percent of students enrolled.
Matthew Syverson, a senior at St. John's University in Collegeville and a 2009 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria, was chosen as a New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) scholar. As one of the winners in the essay contests, he attended June sessions at the Harvard Medical School conference center in Boston, Massachusetts to celebrate 200 years of the NEJM. The essay topic was the impact of new media on public and personal health. Syverson is the son of Mike and Jane Syverson of Alexandria.
