A new flagpole and flag were dedicated at Maple Ridge Manor in Alexandria (across from Ron’s Warehouse) on Veterans Day. Nationwide Housing Corporation provided the funds for the project. Vietnam veteran Vince Wogan worked with Curtis Brown, maintenance, to raise the flag. A variety of events occured Monday throughout Douglas County to honor the area’s veterans on Veterans Day.
From flag raisings and breakfast events to special speakers and essay readings, the day was made special for those who served our country.
