Holly Augusta Carlson
Holly Augusta Carlson, age 85 of Port Wing, Wis. died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at Northern Lights Health Care Center in Washburn, Wis. after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She was born March 16, 1923 in Scandia the daughter of Robert & Sorophia (Nordstrom) Swenson.
She has been a resident of the Port Wing area since 1928, In March of 1942 she married Robert S. Carlson in Washburn, Wis. He preceded her in death in June of 1998, Holly had helped in the family fishing business in Port Wing, was co-owner and operator of the Port Bar in Port Wing. Wis. and had done some commercial fishing in Alaska. She and her husband spent winters in Fort Pierce, Fla. in their later years. Holly was a member of First Lutheran Church in Port Wing, Wis.
Surviving are her children, Stanley (Becky) Carlson of Spokane, Wash., Laurie (Gary) Perkins of Port Wing, Wis., Gary (Bern) Carlson of Port Wing, Wis., Kathy (Mike) Cadmus of Eau Claire, Wis. and Jeff Carlson of Port Wing, Wis; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Darlene Carlson of Sister Bay, Wis. and Betty Carlson of Ellison Bay, Wis.; brothers-in-law, Hubert Erickson of Largo, Fla. and Harold Carlson of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Kory Carlson; five sisters; other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at First Lutheran Church in Port Wing, Wis. Pastor Curt Rohland will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery in Port Wing. Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn, Wis. is assisting the family with arrangements.
