Holiday spirit warm and bright

Although they were a bit timid at first, the Steimann brothers of Alexandria - Ethan, 6, and Lucas, 3 - quickly warmed up to Santa and Mrs. Claus. (Photo by Amy Chaffins)1 / 2
A bundled-up crowd gathered for the Zion Children's Choir performance at the Fort. The choir's rendition of Jingle Bells, in particular, seemed to dazzle the crowd even though their applause was a bit muffled by mittens and gloves. Later, the Jefferson Carolers also performed holiday tunes for the crowd. (Photo by Amy Chaffins)2 / 2

Despite frigid weather Friday, spirits were certainly warm and bright during the annual Christmas in the Fort celebration.

Hundreds of families gathered at the Runestone Museum Fort Alexandria to take in the festive atmosphere, which included visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, musical performances, treats, horse-drawn wagon rides and the sparkle of Christmas lights in downtown Alexandria.
