Hoeper named Lakers volleyball MVP

The Minnewaska volleyball team handed out its season awards recently with Alison Hoeper being named the Player of the Year for the Lakers.

Hoeper was also an honorable-mention All-West Central Conference selection. Ariel Ostrander took home two honors as she was the only Minnewaska player named All-WCC. Ostrander also took home the team’s Best Offensive Player Award.

Carley Stewart was named the most improved player for the Lakers. Shanae Suchy was the best defensive player. Taylor Amundson took home the Rookie of the Year Award. Kaitlyn Lundebrek and Abby VerSteeg won the Spirit Award. Suchy and Emma Middendorf earned the Will to Win Athlete Award and Hoeper and Ashlyn Guggisberg shared the Team Player Award.

The Lakers also had a lot of players who were successful in the classroom. Hoeper, Ostrander, Carley Stewart, VerSteeg, Amundson, Suchy and Guggisberg were all named WCC-Academic All Conference, while Hoeper earned Class AA all-state recognition.

The Lakers wrapped up their season with a 9-15 season overall
