'History Day With Eleanor Gunderson' to be celebrated in Kensington
The Kensington Area Heritage Society will be having a noon luncheon to celebrate "History Day With Eleanor Gunderson" on Saturday, February 21 in Kensington's Community Center.
The luncheon, which will feature recipes from Gunderson's cookbook, is being catered by the Kensington Cafe. It will feature London chicken, Swedish rice ring, sweet potatoes, carrot Jell-O, rommegrot, rosettes and a dinner roll.
Gunderson was well-known as the "town historian" and when she passed away in 2008, her family donated many artifacts and her boxes of information to the Heritage Society for the museum and research center.
Her materials are a significant addition to the Society's collection and the public is invited to come and see some of the things during History Day.
A door prize drawing will take place at 1 p.m. with items the Gunderson family has donated.
The cost is $10 if tickets are purchased by February 14. Organizers are asking the public to pre-register so they know how much food to prepare. After February 14 and at the door, tickets will be $15.
Proceeds from this fundraising event will be used by the Heritage Society as it continues to render the former creamery into "museum quality."
Tickets may be purchased by sending a check to Kensington Area Heritage Society, P.O. Box 54, Kensington, MN 56343.
