Help your heart - go for a walk
The American Heart Association's West Central Minnesota Start! Heart Walk has been scheduled for the end of June.
The walk will take place this year on Thursday, June 25. Registration will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. with a warm-up and welcome scheduled at 6 p.m. and the walk set to begin at 6:15 p.m. It is slated to be done at 8 p.m.
The walk - a choice of three or six miles - will begin at Voyager Elementary School on County Road 44 in Alexandria.
The three-mile walk is set up from Voyager to Shalom Lutheran Church and the six-mile loop is from the school to Big Ole Central Park and back.
Because of inclement weather at past walks, there will be a walk zone set up inside the school just in case.
The fundraising goal this year is to raise $45,000.

These diseases, which are the nation's number one and number three killers, claim more than 910,000 lives each year.
The association invested more than $543 million in its fiscal year for 2005-2006 for research, professional and public education and advocacy so people across America can live stronger, longer lives.
