Help reduce hunger: Plant an Extra Row
It is that time again; individuals and families are tending to their gardens and getting them ready for the growing season.
If you would like an opportunity to give back to your community, consider the fun, affordable option to "Plant an Extra Row" and help United Way reduce hunger in the community.
The United Way Community Impact Coalition is asking everyone with home gardens to plant an extra row for those in need of food. Fruit and vegetable donations are collected at the United Way office and distributed throughout the community.
In today's economic climate, this is an excellent, affordable way to give back to the community and to have a significant impact, according to United Way leaders. Now is the time to plan your garden and to plant that extra row.
United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life - a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health.
United Way's goal is to create long lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. They invite you to be part of the change. Together, they can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.
