Hear the tales of a former lighthouse keeper
Mike Roberts, author of The Last Keeper at Split Rock, will share maritime stories on Wednesday, June 12 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum, 205 3rd Avenue West, Alexandria. The cost is $13.
Roberts will share of his experiences as the keeper of Split Rock Lighthouse, a Lake Superior National Landmark. He was the keeper when it was deactivated in 1969. He later joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was part of search and rescue adventures.
He will also talk about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald and his interview with Dennis Hale, the sole survivor of the Daniel J. Morrell shipwreck on Lake Huron.
