Hear a one-woman show on Mother's Day
Lakes Area Theatre (LAT) in Alexandria is offering the following productions this week:
When you mix comedy, mystery and sleuthing with old time radio, you get The Thin Man. Originally a 1934 movie, it stars William Powell and Myrna Loy as the characters Nick and Nora, who seek a person described as "a thin man."
The Nick and Nora episode to be performed Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at LAT is entitled The Case of the Goofy Groom. It is directed by Claudia Bursch and stars Rexford Sweetwater and Keri Mohror as Nick and Nora. Joining the cast are Scott and Carolyn Giannone, Nancy Klepetka and Kevin Lee. Bob Piotrowski will provide music, with Mike and Daniel Roers doing sound effects.
ON THE AIR
LAT presents a heartfelt one-woman show as the Mother's Day special on Sunday, May 12 on KXRA 1490 AM at 12:30 p.m.
Minneapolis voice actor Robin Johnson brings to life a story written by American author Tillie Olsen. Olsen was associated with the political turmoil of the 1930s and the first generation of American feminists.
Johnson's portrayal of the semi-autobiographical character in Olsen's I Stand Here Ironing, is as pertinent a piece now as it was when published in 1961. The show provides fertile ground for female intergenerational discussions.
