Harlan Urness, 82
Harlan E. Urness, 82, St. Cloud, died January 4, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 9 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Innichement will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Columbarium.
Friends may call Thursday, January 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Harlan was born June 18, 1926 in Urness Township to Andrew and Emma (Thorson) Urness. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII. He married Jean Trefethren on September 19, 1953 in Evansville. They resided in the Alexandria area until 1962 and later moved to St. Cloud in 1977.
Harlan is survived by his loving wife, Jean, of St. Cloud; children, Ray, Blaine; Terry (Merl), Becker; Linda Loucks, St. Cloud; Brenda (Dennis) Czech, Opole; Ema (Greg) Hartung, St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren, Karen Loucks, Robert Loucks III, Kristi Loucks, Tina Urness, Jory Urness, Joseph Czech, Zachary Czech, Nathaniel Czech, Anna Hartung, Erin Hartung, Emily Hartung; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Groover and Madison Groover; siblings, Donna (Charlie) Coon, Jefferson City, MO, Arlou (Hank) Hyatt, Alexandria, Elaine (Bob) Martin, Alexandria, JoAnn (Greg) Kildow, WA; and sister-in-law, Connie Urness of Circle Pines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Virgil; and nephew, Paul Schwendemann.
